Telehealth Services
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth is healthcare services provided over a technology platform versus in person. It comes in many different forms including email or phone correspondence to follow up on in person sessions, remote home program tracking and live video calls.
Who should receive Telehealth?
Telehealth is an effective alternative for anyone who is unable to or has difficulty attending in person visits. There are certain conditions that may not be appropriate for Telehealth due to safety or the need for more advanced techniques. Contact me and we can determine if Telehealth is appropriate for you.
How can physical therapy be performed virtually?
Despite physical therapy being known for its “hands on” approach, much of the benefits of treatment comes from the education, instruction, motivation and accountability a physical therapist can provide. My experience and training allows me to identify and address problems utilizing verbal, visual and auditory feedback. If manual therapy is necessary and unachievable via instruction in self-treatment, I will make the recommendation for in-person treatments.
Do you also do Pain Coaching via telehealth?
Yes! Pain coaching sessions are very similar to physical therapy sessions with the difference being that we are not treating a current movement limitation or particular diagnosis. Instead, we are working to change views and behaviors in order to improve your pain experience as well as overall health and wellness.
Will my insurance cover a telehealth session?
Telehealth physical therapy services is a covered service in Florida for most insurance carriers (please contact your insurance directly). Health/Pain Coaching is not currently a covered service for most insurances. I do not accept insurance as payment but will complete any necessary forms to assist you in filing for reimbursement.
What should I expect during a telehealth session?
Expect to talk and move. How much of either depends on your health status, motivation levels and needs at that moment. I will send a telehealth checklist prior to your first session to help you prepare.
